Why is the open rate for my email so high?

If the total opens are higher than usual it may indicate one or more of the following has happened:

  1. One subscriber has opened multiple times.

  2. A subscriber has forwarded the email to one or many people. Any opens on a forwarded email are attributed back to the subscriber who originally forwarded the email. This is recorded against the total opens of the email but the email address will be counted as a unique open.

  3. The email has gone to a group email address (one email but many recipients), for example an "All staff address". Any opens on a group email address are attributed back to the subscriber profile for that email address and recorded against the total opens of the email. The address will be counted as one unique open.
