You can upload an Excel workbook or a delimited text file when importing subscribers. Choose one of these supported formats:

Format What it contains
XLSX or XLS An Excel workbook, which can contain more than one worksheet.
CSV A text file in which values are commonly separated by commas.
TSV A text file in which values are separated by tabs.
TXT A text file with values separated by a delimiter, such as a comma, tab or semicolon.

Check the preview before mapping

The File step displays the first five data rows so you can check how Taguchi has read the file. Each subscriber should occupy one row, with values such as Email and First name in separate columns.

Check the settings for your file type:

  • CSV, TSV or TXT — Delimiter: selects the character separating values. Change this if an entire row appears in one column.
  • CSV, TSV or TXT — Encoding: controls how characters are read. Check this if names or accented letters look incorrect.
  • Excel — Worksheet: selects the sheet containing the subscribers to import. Other worksheets are not combined into that import.

Column headings are recommended because recognised headings can produce mapping suggestions. If there are no headings, clear First row contains column names and map the columns manually. An organisation rule may lock this option.

Dates and empty rows

Excel cells formatted as dates or times are read in a consistent format, such as 2026-12-31 for a date. A date typed into a CSV or other text file is read as written, so use a clear format appropriate for the field you are importing.

Blank records and hidden worksheet rows or columns are skipped. If information you expect is missing from the preview, check that it is on the selected sheet and is not hidden.
