Images play a significant role in email marketing, which is why it's important to consider certain factors when importing images into an activity.

File Size

Your email width is generally 600px wide. To account for high resolution and retina screens, we suggest uploading images that are twice the size you wish for them to appear in. i.e. Full width image should be uploaded at 1200px wide.

This doesn't apply to GIF images - you'll need to upload your GIF in exactly the width you want it to appear in. For more information on this please see the article 'Can I include an animated gif in an email?'

We recommend keeping your image file size under 1MB as larger files can have a negative impact such as:

  • Slow sends
  • Subscriber viewing the email on mobile will need to download the large image size

Colour

Your images should be in RGB format and not CMYK, since CMYK is used for print media and may alter how the images displays online.

Image quality

We support the following image formats: JPEG, GIF and PNG. However, we prefer PNG images for the following reasons:

  • They aren't as affected by compressors such as JPG files are
  • Great transparency support
  • Smaller file sizes
  • They blend more nicely when dark mode is switched on the recipient's device

While 72 DPI is the standard resolution for monitors, uploading images in 300 DPI can resolve clarity issues.
