User roles determine what each person can view, create, edit and administer within Taguchi. Assigning the correct role helps protect sensitive information while ensuring users have access to the features they need.

This guide explains each available role, its permissions and when to use it.

If the user needs to... (recommended role)

User Role Permissions

• Optional Role = Available by assigning the corresponding role to a Base or Power User.
• Edit Lifecycles and Deploy Lifecycles are separate from the Content roles. Editing permission does not include approval or deployment; deployment permission does not include editing.
• After any revision has been deployed, changing shared entry, exit, participation, goal or revision-allocation settings requires both Edit Lifecycles and Deploy Lifecycles.
• Base Users can view Lifecycles. Partition-restricted users cannot access Lifecycles, even if lifecycle permissions are assigned, because Lifecycles require organisation-wide access.
• Power Users and Administrators include both lifecycle permissions. For Base Users, assign only the lifecycle permissions required for their work.
• Where the organisation requires two-factor authentication (2FA) for privileged roles, users need 2FA enabled to use Deploy Lifecycles.
• The Database - Manage Audiences role grants audience management without the broader Database Manage permission.
• Coupon management is included with either Content Edit or Database Manage.

Best practices

• Follow the principle of least privilege—only grant the access required for a user's responsibilities.
• Regularly review user roles and remove unnecessary permissions.
• Assign Administrator access sparingly.
• Remove or downgrade access when team members change roles or leave the organisation.
